Meet Ms. Emily

Hi, my name is Emily and I run Huckleberry Hollow Preschool from my welcoming home in NE Lake Stevens, WA. I have worn the hat of a teacher through many different educational avenues and am thrilled about starting this new journey with Huckleberry Hollow. I have two young kids, an orange cat, and a friendly Goldendoodle. I grew up in Sitka, AK, and on Whidbey Island. My upbringing gave me a love for the outdoors, creating, and learning. When I’m not outside or with my daughters and husband, you might find me in a cozy coffee shop needle felting.

A little about my professional life: I studied Art in Portland before getting my Bachelor's degree in K-12 Visual Art Education through Central Washington University in 2013. Since then, I’ve worked with the homeschooling community to run art camps, had the enchanting experience of teaching in a Waldorf preschool and, most recently, taught Visual Art Education in the Lake Washington School District. In 2017, I was honored to receive the award for Outstanding New Art Educator of the Year from the Washington Art Education Association for my contributions in Art Education.

The knowledge and experience I have collected about education, childhood development, and what helps little humans thrive has led me to open Huckleberry Hollow and I can’t wait to meet your little ones. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. We can chat about if Huckleberry Hollow would be a good fit for your child. After going through the process of enrolling my daughter in preschool, I know it can feel scary and exciting!
